This organization came about from two people who work together, with animals. Collaborating their skills, knowledge, training, to do what they enjoy, working with dogs. Our rescue is different then most rescues, as we are able to house our rescue dogs, offer training classes, and enjoy a day care setting everyday. We are able to take in social, happy, and fairly healthy dogs. We are very small and evaluate carefully. With our business backgrounds, we are able to reach out to many. Our goal is to help out local shelters, animal control officers, and other rescues, as well.
When dog arrives into our rescue, they evaluated by a trainer, socialized, and introduced to other dogs in a controlled environment. They also receive a vet check and updated vaccines if needed. Then our dogs are posted on web sites, like Petfinder.com. Volunteers often take our dogs for public walks, training classes, overnight care, and handled daily.
Adopters are asked to fill out an application, submit references, and have a home visit. After a family has been approved, they are added to the adopter list. When a dog becomes available, that may fit into the adopters home, or a particular dog you are interested in, an introduction between the family and the dog is done.
Save Me A Spot continues to follow up on the dog and it’s new family after the adoption, and is there for advise, support, and education if needed.
